Connect Links

Send clients a magic link to connect their own social accounts without your involvement.

What Connect Links are for

Connect Links let you send clients a self-serve social connection portal so they can connect their own Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. accounts directly.

  • Magic link: one unique link per client per round
  • No login needed: clients don't create an Aidelly account
  • No account sharing: they connect and authorize with their own credentials
  • One-time use: link is invalidated after successful connection
  • You stay in the loop: connected accounts appear in your workspace

Perfect for agencies that want clients to own their account credentials while still managing content in a shared workspace.

Before you start

  • You must be a workspace owner or admin
  • Connect links work with all OAuth social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Clients must have valid credentials for each account they connect

Step 1 — Create a connect link

  1. Go to Workspace Settings → Connect Links (or Account Settings if single-workspace)
  2. Click + Create Link
  3. Optionally add a note (for your reference, e.g., "Q3 2026 client onboarding")
  4. Click Create
  5. A unique magic link appears: Copy it
  6. Share the link via email, Slack, or however you contact clients

Note: The link is shown only once. If lost, create a new one.

Step 2 — Client connects their accounts

Your client receives the link and clicks it:

  1. No login required — they land on the connection portal
  2. They see a list of platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  3. They click the platform they want to connect
  4. They log into that platform and authorize Aidelly
  5. The platform account is now connected to your workspace
  6. They can connect multiple accounts by repeating steps 3–5

Step 3 — Manage connect links

In Workspace Settings → Connect Links, you see:

ItemWhat it shows
Created dateWhen you generated the link
Connections madeHow many accounts have been connected via this link
StatusActive or Revoked

Actions:

  • Revoke — deactivate the link (client can't use it anymore)
  • Create new — generate a fresh link for another round

Revoked links show a generic "unavailable" page with no workspace details.

Understanding the connection process

  1. Client clicks the link → lands on the portal (no Aidelly account created)
  2. Selects platform → redirected to that platform's login
  3. Logs in with their credentials (not yours)
  4. Grants Aidelly permission to manage posts (standard OAuth scope)
  5. Redirected back to Aidelly confirmation page
  6. Account is now connected to your workspace

Your workspace sees:

  • New connected account in Social Connections
  • Account is tied to the client's credentials (not yours)
  • You can schedule posts to that account immediately

Your client's role:

  • Account credentials stay with them (you can't log in as them)
  • If they change their password, the connection stays valid (OAuth)
  • They can revoke Aidelly's access from their platform settings anytime

Best practices

  1. One link per client: Create a fresh link each time a client connects new accounts
  2. Share the full URL: Make sure clients get the complete link (some email clients truncate long URLs)
  3. Set expectations: Let clients know which accounts to connect
  4. Test on a test account first: Have them try with one account before connecting all of them
  5. Revoke old links: Once a client is done connecting accounts, revoke the link to prevent accidents

Common questions

Q: What if the client clicks the link but doesn't connect an account?
A: The link stays active. They can click it again later and complete the connection.

Q: Can I use the same link for multiple clients?
A: Yes, but they'll all connect to the same workspace. Create separate links if you want to track which client connected which account.

Q: What if a client's account is already connected (via another link or method)?
A: Aidelly prevents duplicate connections. The client sees a message that the account is already connected.

Q: Can I see which client connected which account?
A: Not directly. Connect links are workspace-scoped, not client-scoped. Consider adding a note to the link (e.g., "Client name - Month") to track it.

Q: What if a client's password changes?
A: No problem. OAuth persists through password changes. The account stays connected.

Q: Can I disconnect an account after a client connects it?
A: Yes, from Workspace Settings → Social Connections, you can revoke the account just like any other connection.

Q: Is there a time limit on a link?
A: No. Links remain active indefinitely until you manually revoke them. But revoke old links when done for security.

Q: Can a client revoke their own connection?
A: Technically yes, from their platform's "connected apps" settings. But they can't remove it from Aidelly without workspace admin access.
