Connect Shopify

Connect Shopify once and Aidelly can read active products, turn a product into a social post, and watch a public collection feed for new-product Auto-Post drafts.

The standard connection uses Shopify's secure authorization screen. You never copy an API secret into Aidelly.

Before you start

You need:

• The permanent .myshopify.com domain, such as your-shop.myshopify.com
• Permission to approve apps for the Shopify store

Aidelly does not need order, customer, or product-write access.

Connect the store in Aidelly

1. In Aidelly, open E-commerce in the sidebar.
2. Click Connect store and choose Shopify.
3. Enter the permanent .myshopify.com domain.
4. Click Connect Shopify.
5. Shopify opens. Review the requested read-only product permission and approve it.
6. Shopify returns you to Aidelly. The first catalog sync starts automatically.

Aidelly verifies the app and starts the first catalog sync. Active products appear as the sync finishes.

If Shopify says the installation link cannot be used

Shopify shows "This installation link cannot be used. It may have expired or the app may not be available for this store." when the store is not allowed to install Aidelly's Shopify app. That is a Shopify-side restriction, not a problem with your store or your Aidelly account. Use your own custom app instead, as described in the next section. Aidelly gets the same read-only product access either way.

Connect with your own custom app

You create a small app in your own Shopify account, give it read-only product access, install it on your store, and paste its credentials into Aidelly. Shopify issues short-lived tokens for the app; Aidelly refreshes them automatically.

You need to be the store owner or a staff member with permission to develop apps.

1. Create the app in Shopify

1. In your Shopify admin, open Settings → Apps and sales channels.
2. Click Develop apps, then Build apps in Dev Dashboard. Shopify opens the Dev Dashboard for your account.
3. Click Create app and name it, for example Aidelly product sync.
4. Open the app's Versions and configure a version:
   • Leave the app URL as Shopify's default.
   • In Access, add the scope read_products. Do not add anything else. Aidelly does not need orders, customers, or write access.
   • Click Release, then confirm.

2. Install it on your store

1. Still in the Dev Dashboard, open the app and click Install app.
2. If your account has several stores, pick the store you want to connect.
3. Confirm the installation.

3. Copy the credentials

1. In the Dev Dashboard, open the app's Settings.
2. Copy the Client ID.
3. Click Reveal next to Client secret and copy it. Treat it like a password.

4. Paste them into Aidelly

1. In Aidelly, open E-commerce, click Connect store, and choose Shopify.
2. Enter your permanent .myshopify.com domain.
3. Click Use developer credentials instead.
4. Keep Dev Dashboard app selected, paste the Client ID and Client secret, and click Connect Shopify.

Aidelly verifies the app against your store and starts the first catalog sync.

Custom apps created before 2026

A custom app created in Shopify admin before January 2026 has an Admin API access token beginning with shpat_ instead of a client ID and secret. For those, choose Legacy access token in step 4 and paste the token. Shopify reveals that token only once; if you no longer have it, create a new app using the steps above.

Create a product post manually

1. Open the product grid in E-commerce.
2. Click Create post on a product.
3. Review the attached product image, generated caption, and product link.
4. Schedule or publish the post.

Use Shopify with Auto-Post

Shopify is connected to Auto-Post through its public Atom collection feed. This is separate from the private catalog connection above.

1. In Shopify, make the product Active and publish it to Online Store.
2. Make sure the storefront is public. A password-protected storefront returns 401 for its Atom feeds, so Aidelly cannot read them.
3. In Aidelly, open Automations → Auto-Post and click Connect source.
4. Choose RSS / Atom.
5. Enter a collection feed URL:
   • All products: https://your-shop.myshopify.com/collections/all.atom
   • One collection: https://your-shop.myshopify.com/collections/COLLECTION-HANDLE.atom
6. Confirm the preview, choose Auto-draft only for the first test, select the destination accounts, and connect the source.
7. Add a new active Shopify product to the collection. Aidelly should detect the new feed entry within 15 minutes. Open History on the source to see the result.

Start with Auto-draft only. Switch to Auto-publish only after you have confirmed the feed, captions, links, and destination accounts.

After catalog changes

Click Re-sync in the Aidelly store list after adding or updating products. Catalog sync and Auto-Post have different jobs:

• Catalog sync refreshes the browsable product grid.
• Auto-Post watches a public collection feed for new entries.

Troubleshooting

What Aidelly can and cannot do

With only read_products, Aidelly can read product titles, descriptions, images, prices, variants, SKUs, and public product links. It cannot edit products, read orders or customers, or change the store.
